ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif on Tuesday said that the people and government of Pakistan wished to see a diplomatic solution of the problems between brotherly Islamic countries in the Gulf.
He was talking to Foreign Minister of the State of Qatar Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani who called on him at the PM House.
According to a statement issued from the PM House, the prime minister noted the brotherly relations between Pakistan and the State of Qatar and stressed that Pakistan maintained close, friendly and cooperative relations with all member countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).
During the meeting, Sheikh Mohammed briefed the prime minister on Qatar’s response to the demands of Saudi Arabia, UAE, Bahrain and Egypt and on the current status of the mediation efforts of Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah, Emir of Kuwait.
The prime minister appreciated the sagacity and wisdom of the Emir of Kuwait and said that Pakistan supported his sincere efforts in finding a solution to the current crisis in the Gulf region.
The foreign minister of Qatar expressed his gratitude to the prime minister for the warm reception and reiterated Qatar’s desire to further enhance bilateral relations between the two countries.
Fazlur Rehman calls on PM: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) Ameer Maulana Fazlur Rehman called on Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif at the PM House on Tuesday.
According to a press release issued from the PM House, development projects in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and political matters came under discussion at the meeting.
The prime minister also consulted Maulana Fazlur Rehman on the ongoing Panama Papers case. The JUI-F chief is among few political figures who have strongly opposed the opposition’s demand for the resignation of Prime Minister Sharif and called the Panama Papers leaks an international conspiracy against China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
Meanwhile, Chief of Pakistan Muslim League (Ziaul Haq) Muhammad Ijazul Haq called on Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif on Tuesday. Political matters came under discussion in the meeting.
