KARACHI: The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has termed a petition seeking removal of digital meters installed in Karachi not maintainable and ‘liable to be dismissed’.
The comments were filed by NEPRA in response to a petition hearing being headed by Sindh High Court (SHC) Chief Justice Ahmed Ali M Sheikh along with a two-judge bench. NEPRA said the petitioner had no cause of action against the power regulator; hence, his petition was not maintainable and liable to be dismissed. After hearing arguments from NEPRA’S lawyer, the CJ transferred the matter to the division bench concerned for further hearing and passing appropriate order, if any.
The petition was jointly filed by Uzair Shahid along with Advocate Dur Muhammad Shah who had named K-E, NEPRA and the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) director-general as respondents.
