ISLAMABAD: Supreme Court (SC) stated on Tuesday that it will charge Federal Minister for Privatization Daniyal Aziz in contempt of court case.
The case commenced on February 2 after Aziz was alleged of passing contemptuous remarks against the judiciary. The SC bench stated that he was found guilty in prima facie on evidence of his blatant remarks made on TV shows aired in the previous year dated June 9, December 15 and December 31.
Aziz had submitted its response to the court, accusing the media of distorting his statements while reporting out of relevance. He added that he had always respected the dignified judiciary and addressed the court within the ethical and moral codes.
The federal minister highlighted on the implementation of the code of conduct for media to safeguard the likes of him who are subjected to contempt of court due to misrepresentation by the media. He added that he had no intention to dishonour the constitutional institutes nor did he wish to obstruct judicial process for justice.
