CHICHAWATNI: Polling for by-elections in NA-162 Chichawatni is underway today, on Monday, beginning at 8:00 a.m and is expected to continue till 5:00 p.m.
The seat fell vacant after political party PTI’s minister Rai Hassan Nawaz Khan got disqualified following Supreme Court’s orders, in case of concealing his assets.
PML-N’s Muhammad Tufail Jutt, PPP’s Shahzad Saeed Cheema and PTI’s Rai Murtaza Iqbal are set to race each other in what is being touted as a tough contest under the recent political scenario in country. 293 polling stations have been set up in the constituency out of which 22 have been declared sensitive considering the security situation.
PTI chairman Imran Khan had held an election rally a couple of days ago in Chichawatni, in which he had slammed the PML-N government and urged voters to elect PTI’s candidate again from the constituency.
