LAHORE: A girl named Zeenat has been burnt to death by her relatives on Wednesday because she married a man of her choice and has been buried in a local graveyard of Lahore today.
Everybody was consumed with enormous grief at her home located at Chungi Amar Sadhu area of Lahore when her dead body was brought there. Zeenat’s mother and her husband Hasan could not hold back their feelings of despair and anguish.
Hasan said that Zeenat’s brother and brother-in-law had warned her of all the harmful consequences and Hasan’s father said that if he knew that her brother and brother-in-law had said this to her then he wouldn’t have let her come to their house.
She was ruthlessly burnt by her own mother for marrying a man of her own choice that is Hasan. Zeenat’s mother said that she doesn’t regret her act of burning her daughter to death for this cause that according to her was right.
Hasan told media that Zeenat did not want to go back to her family but when her uncle gave his word and promised her that she will be safe and sound and they will arrange a proper wedding ceremony for Hasan and Zeenat then she gave in and went to see her family. This is when her mother Parveen burnt her down for dishonoring her family.
According to police officials, postmortem report has revealed 80% of Zeenat’s body was completely burnt and she was first strangled and then burnt to death.
The report also shows that her lungs were filled with smoke that left no room for oxygen to breathe. She was taking her last breaths when they burnt her down ruthlessly after strangling.
