LAHORE – Punjab University College of Information Technology Principal professor Dr Syed Mansoor Sarwar has asked the look after incharge of the post of vice chancellor to cancel the meeting of the Academic council as “you have no legal authority to assume the role of regular vice chancellor”.
In a letter he wrote to the VC, he said, “I would like to express my serious concern over the proposed changes in the DPCC (Doctoral Program Coordination Committee) rules because, if approved, they would further weaken the quality of already deteriorating MS/MPhil/PhD programs at the University.
“I further request you to ask the DPCC to devise rules to enhance the quality of graduate education and research so that PU could become an internationally recognised premier university in the region and the world. Last, but not least, the policy decisions like making changes in the DPCC rules and regulations should be left to the new regular vice chancellor.
“In the light of the facts and Supereme Court decisions, the undersigned requests that the meeting be cancelled in order to avoid legal repercussions,” he wrote in letter.
